About the roles:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a clear desire to complete an Apprenticeship and become a qualified Electrician or Diesel/Mechanical Fitter. This is an opportunity to learn from highly skilled tradespeople in maintenance facilities or to work in the field operating and maintaining on-track machinery.

Aurizon’s maintenance facility roles are based in Jilalan (Sarina), Stuart (Townsville), and Callemondah (Gladstone).  Our in-field apprentices are based in Sarina & Rockhampton; however, successful candidates must commit to extensive travel around the Central Queensland Coal Network.

In addition to the apprentice roles, we are also offering traineeships in Warehousing at our Jilalan & Callemondah depots along with a Business Administration traineeship in Jilalan.

These roles will require you to:

  • Develop skills, experience, and the knowledge to obtain a nationally recognized qualification.
  • Successfully complete TAFE and practical assessments within the given timeframe.
  • Actively participate in team and safety meetings, contributing to improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of trades personnel to ensure work is performed in accordance with technical & operational standards.

About you:

  • You have completed or will have completed Year 10 by the end of 2024.
  • You have a genuine interest in your chosen trade, evident through work experience or hobbies.
  • A sound commitment to health & safety.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop a range of new skills associated with your chosen trade.
  • Motivation to achieve individual and team goals and objectives with a willingness to actively contribute to attaining results.
  • Demonstrated interest in the chosen trade.
  • Ability to undertake an extensive training program including theory & practical components.
  • QLD drivers’ license.

The ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks such as testing, references, and medical is a requirement for these roles.
