About the role:

Working as part of the Rollingstock Maintenance team, the successful candidate will exercise their trade skills and knowledge to ensure that locomotives, wagons, plant, and infrastructure are repaired and maintained to the required standard of safety and reliability to ensure the efficient running of freight services.

You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking examination and inspection of rollingstock to identify any faults or defects.
  • Controlling the movement of rollingstock within the area of operations and carry out instructions concerning on rollingstock movements and safe working.
  • Carrying out repairs, component change out, servicing and modification to rollingstock.
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with technical & operational specifications.
  • Progressing the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of ensuring continuous quality improvement.
  • Providing material requirements to ensure safe and efficient running of rollingstock.

About you: 

  • An Electrical Trades Certificate or formal equivalent and a valid 'A' grade Electrical License.
  • The ability to interpret schematic drawings.
  • High level of knowledge of functions, defects & fault findings with equipment.
  • Substantial level of skills in repair, maintenance & overhaul of machinery.
  • A current unrestricted 'C' class Driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work shift work.
  • Forklift Licence (preferred).
