About the Role: We're thrilled to announce a new opportunity within our rapidly expanding Procurement & Enterprise Services (P&ES) Division. We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Category Advisor to support our Enterprise Services and Corporate area. This role is pivotal in enhancing our procurement processes and ensuring operational excellence across our organisation.

As a Category Advisor, you will:

  • Support and guide offshore transactional buying team: Provide guidance on Aurizon’s procedures and structure and help the offshore team to escalate issue to the category teams.
  • Collaborate with Category Teams: Work regularly with category teams to ensure goods and services information is always accurate.
  • Perform analysis: develop KPI and reporting, identify issues, trends to drive process improvement
  • Identify Process Improvements: Assist in spotting opportunities for enhancements in procurement processes.
  • Lead Training Initiatives: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive procurement process and systems training strategy, including the creation of training programs and assessment tools.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Offer training, advice, and support on procurement and purchasing process and systems to team members and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Continuously evaluate training delivery to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Govern Procurement Processes: Manage key procurement controls, analysis, and reporting to deliver effective governance of transactional procurement.
  • Implement Purchasing Best Practices: Collaborate with the governance and procurement systems lead to establish and communicate purchasing protocols through SAP.
  • Ensure Procedural Adherence: Work with leaders and stakeholders to ensure proper procedures are followed in processing purchase requisitions and orders.
  • Update Procurement Channels: Review and update the Goods and Services page and advise on additional SAP contracts. Reflect any changes in purchasing channels, such as Engineering panels.
  • Stay Informed on Corporate Changes: Keep updated on corporate changes and processes in P&ES that may impact the Procurement help desk.
  • Manage Online Resources: Own and update the Order to Pay and Goods receipt pages in HOWED, as well as the Purchasing Information Centre SharePoint site.
  • Conduct Testing and Debugging: Participate in testing and debugging during UAT phases to ensure system integrity.
  • Coordinate Team Activities: Lead team meetings to align activities and address any issues.

About You:

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • 5+ Years of Experience: Demonstrated experience in transactional procurement.
  • Procurement Knowledge: High-level understanding of transactional procurement processes.
  • Problem solving: Proven track record of analysing data, and implementing processes that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Critical thinking: Demonstrated ability to challenge assumptions, foresee potential obstacles, and navigate through ambiguity to drive successful project completion.
  • Data analysis: Proficient in extracting insights from complex datasets to inform strategic decision-making. 
  • Stakeholder Management Skills: Proficient in managing relationships and mentoring staff to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • SAP Expertise: Solid experience and proficiency with SAP systems.
  • Exceptional Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership Capability: Experience in leading and managing teams, ideally including offshore teams, to enhance performance.
