About the role:

As part of our commitment to invest in technology, processes, and people to unlock safety and productivity benefits, Aurizon has made the decision to continue with the deployment of the European Train Control System (ETCS) on its Central Queensland electric fleet.

Aurizon’s application of ETCS technology onto our heavy-haul coal fleet is known as the TrainGuard. Equipment is installed on-board locomotives which continuously supervises train speed and signals through associated centralised and trackside equipment.

This project is well underway, and we are looking for an experienced and engaged Design Manager to assist in the embedding of this new technology.

  • Plan, schedule and manage engineering projects ensuring projects are kept to scope, time and budget constraints.
  • Manage and verify project system engineering requirements.
  • Manage and verify project system integration processes.
  • Manage and verify cost value management processes.
  • Manage and verify project system assurance. 
  • Produce, coordinate and review project proposals

About you: Given the scale of this program of work and the stakeholder engagement required, we are looking for applicants that have high level design management skills and experience in delivering large, multi-disciplinary projects. Those with ETCS / Operational Technology / Signalling project experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering relating to Railway design and construction highly desirable
  • High level of negotiation, coordination, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Engineering projects
