About the role:

We are looking for a Qualified Network Controller to join our Dry Creek depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of trains, and track works over the Aurizon Bulk Central Network in line with the network safe working rules.  

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high levels of service performance on the Aurizon Bulk Central network by managing, controlling, and monitoring the movement of trains and on-track vehicles.
  • Ensure that Network Control activities comply with all safety requirements specified in legislation, Aurizon Bulk Central’s Safety and Security Management.
  • Ensure that rail operators and infrastructure providers are provided with the correct track access in accordance with the daily train plan, specified train plans, contractual requirements, possession protocols and contingency plans where relevant.

About you: 

To be successful you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Cert 4 in Network Control, DIRN Code of Practice competence, and Train Order Working competence is desirable.
  • Commitment to safety and proven ability to apply safety management principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including direct customer contact.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills, often under pressure.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrable ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to interpret, process and analyse data.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willing to work a 24/7 roster.
  • Willing to work overtime as and when required.
  • You will be working and liaising in a collaborative team environment sharing innovative ideas to improve the availability of adequate resources to cover operational requirements.
