About the role:

Are you a hands-on leader with deep expertise in maintenance management systems?

This is an exciting opportunity for an Asset Data and Planning Leader to drive the strategic and practical management of asset data and long-term planning. You’ll be at the forefront of optimising maintenance systems, ensuring they deliver real-world value while balancing cost, risk, and performance.

Leading a diverse team, you’ll bring technical expertise to ensure Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail freight operator, continues to meet customer expectations. As a multi-modal asset manager, Aurizon owns and operates complex infrastructure across Australia, spanning rail, road, and ports. Your leadership will be key in shaping how we manage these critical assets to drive operational excellence and long-term sustainability.

Reporting to the Engineering, Assurance, and Planning Manager, you will:

  • Lead a high-performing team to drive asset lifecycle management, data governance, and operational efficiency.
  • Implement and manage key systems, standards, and governance across multi-modal transport supply chains.
  • Drive long-term planning strategies by collaborating with senior leadership to align business objectives with cost, risk, and performance considerations.
  • Optimise asset management and materials planning through cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
  • Leverage data mining and analytics to enhance business intelligence and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion data governance initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and strategic priorities.
  • Manage system changes and configuration updates to improve asset management and operational efficiency.

About you: 

We’re looking for an experienced leader with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (mandatory).
  • 10+ years’ experience in master data governance, systems, and processes.
  • Proven expertise in asset-intensive industries such as rail, mining, logistics or infrastructure
  • Extensive knowledge of IT and maintenance management systems including SAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to drive risk and compliance management.
  • Excellent strategic and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership, maintenance and operational teams
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to influence outcomes and drive business success.
