Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail-based transport business, has granted 22 charities much needed funding from its Community Giving Fund.
Managing Director & CEO Andrew Harding said the Company’s Community Giving Fund enables Aurizon and its people to give back to the communities in which they live and work.
“Supporting local charities and the important work they do in our local communities is something we are proud of at Aurizon,” Mr Harding said.
“This round of our Community Giving Fund, we included a Drought Relief category to support regional and rural communities in Queensland and New South Wales affected by the drought crisis.”
“It’s our way of supporting the impacted farming communities where our trains travel and many of our employees live and work, so we are pleased to support those charities that are doing very important work in these local communities.
“Overall our grants help local projects and initiatives that aim to improve education, community safety, environment, and health and wellbeing across the communities in which we operate.
“Since the Fund was established seven years ago, Aurizon has supported more than 340 charities and not-for-profit groups across Australia,” said Mr Harding.
